Description

The ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg is a cycling weekend in which amateur riders share the city with a professional road race. The 2027 edition takes place on Sunday 15 August 2027, according to the official website, and every race finishes on Mönckebergstraße in the centre of Hamburg, northern Germany. Alongside the professional race, the organiser stages two amateur rides, the sort of event Germans call a “Jedermann” race: open to ordinary riders rather than licensed pros. In 2026 these were called The Experience and The Challenge, and the organiser describes them as run on closed roads. The 2027 start locations have not been published yet, so the details below describe the 2026 edition.

Routes and distances

The organiser offered two amateur routes in 2026; the 2027 routes have not been announced yet. The organiser publishes no elevation figures.

The Challenge covers about 110 km in 2026 and is the full outing for riders who want race feeling on closed roads. It starts at Versmannstraße in HafenCity, crosses the Köhlbrand Bridge twice, and loops through Stade, Harburg, the Altes Land and Buxtehude. Its sporting heart is the climb up Rosengartenstraße in Rosengarten (the organiser gives no length or gradient), before the return through the Port of Hamburg to the finish on Mönckebergstraße.

The Experience covers about 60 km in 2026 and is the compact option, described by the organiser as fully closed to traffic. It starts on Alsterglacis and heads through western Hamburg and the Pinneberg area via Schenefeld, Holm and Wedel. It takes in Kösterberg and the Elbchaussee, then returns via the Reeperbahn to finish on Mönckebergstraße.

The professional race is a separate event, which on the official site runs from Buxtehude to Mönckebergstraße.

The organiser’s 2026 timetable says that bib collection for the amateur rides was open from Thursday 13 August 2026, with an expo at the Rathausmarkt. For 2027, the start locations will be announced in good time. The registration page offers GPX tracks (labelled for earlier editions, so check them against the 2027 routes once published) and notes that parts of the routes are only open on race day. We could not find published start times, time limits or feed-station locations.

Registration

Registration for the 2027 edition runs through the organiser’s partner page on timeto.com. According to that page, registration opens in late autumn 2026, and you can pre-register there to receive updates. Entry prices for 2027 have not been published; the 2026 pricing was published only as an image.

Full details are on the official website.

Why ride it

The finish is in the middle of Hamburg, on Mönckebergstraße, and the organiser describes the 2026 amateur routes as closed to traffic. The 2026 Challenge crossed the Köhlbrand Bridge twice and wound through the Port of Hamburg, the Altes Land and Buxtehude, a varied mix of harbour, bridges and orchard country. The Experience offers a shorter city and Elbe-side ride along the Elbchaussee, finishing via the Reeperbahn. Both rides share a weekend with the professional race.

Where to stay

We do not yet list certified cycling-friendly hotels near the Hamburg start. Staying in the city centre makes bib collection and the early start straightforward, and the finish on Mönckebergstraße is in the centre.
