Top 10 climbs in Tenerife, with the striking impressive top climb of Teide on its different slopes.

We don't have to tell you that every visit will make your senses floating in the air. There is also much more to discover outside Mount Teide: the Masca slope, the landscapes of Anaga, the serpentine curves of the Bailadero ...

We guarantee that you will feel pressed to choose any of them, so if you can do them all, the better. Here they are!

  1. Teide (Desde Santa Cruz de Tenerife)
  2. Teide (Desde El Médano)
  3. Teide (Por Puerto de la Cruz)
  4. Teide (Por Guía de Isora)
  5. Los Loros + Teide
  6. Masca
  7. El Bailadero
  8. Las cruces y el tanque
  9. Pico del Inglés (Pedro Álvarez)
  10. El Boquerón

1 - Teide (Desde Santa Cruz de Tenerife)

Distance  62,9 Km
Gradient  4,6%

Ready for a climb of more than 60 kilometers? If the answer is YES, read on. If the answer is NO, keep on reading anyway as we'll convince you otherwise.

We start this selection with an extremely long climb from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, to face one of the slopes of Teide by the Lagunetas. Although it does not have large gradients, the mileage, which has only one area in slight descent, and the accumulated altitude, of more than 2800 meters of positive slope, are a big challenge for cyclists visiting Tenerife. .

2 - Teide (Desde El Médano)

Distance  49,7 Km
Gradient  5%

Another of the tracks starting from a municipality with a long cycling tradition in Tenerife, El Médano. This route will take us through Granadilla de Abona and Vilaflor, from the most beautiful and winding terrain with lush vegetation to the typical landscapes of Teide. Its main difficulty lies in the kilometers and the altitude to the top.

3 - Teide (Por Puerto de la Cruz)

Distance  45,4 Km
Gradient  5,2%

The wide variety of Cycling Friendly accommodations in a certified municipality like Puerto de la Cruz, makes it another of the perfect options to enjoy the colossus of Tenerife, Mount Teide. The curves of La Orotava overlooking the sea will give way by Aguamansa to a greener region up to El Portillo.

4 - Teide (Por Guía de Isora)

Distance  51,9 Km
Gradient  4,6%

This ascent to Teide National Park starts at San Juan beach, in the Cycling Friendly municipality of Guía de Isora, which we will cross to face one of the most constant slopes of the giant of Tenerife. Nearly 52 kilometers with about 2400 meters of accumulated positive slope, and dream landscapes for a compulsory route on the island.

5 - Los Loros + Teide

Distance  51,3 Km
Gradient  4,9%

Another slope of the ascent to the area of the Teide cable car which also exceeds 50 kilometers. In this case, starting from the town of Güimar to overcome first the climb from Los Loros to the Teide National Park with constant slopes and a descent section between Izaña and El Portillo. One of the faces in which we will accumulate more meters of positive slope

6 - Masca

Distance  3,8 Km
Gradient  11,2%

Can a climb of less than 4 kilometers slip into the selection of climbs in Tenerife? It is not a possibility, but a must. The formidable slopes of Masca, its spectacular views, the horseshoe curves in an open and uninterrupted landscape, made this ascent to the belvedere a "must" on the island.

7 - El Bailadero

Distance  11,3 Km
Gradient  5,7%

From a landscape of sun and beach in Las Teresitas to a landscape of vegetation and forest in the rural park of Anaga, between countless horseshoe curves and incredible landscapes. This is the secret of the Bailadero, another of the climbs to experience in Tenerife. A very constant slope around 6% to take advantage of this cycling snake.

8 - Las cruces y el tanque

Distance  18,3 Km
Gradient  5,6%

Another “major ascent” which combines two second-rate climbs to make us climb more than 1000 meters of positive slope in 18 kilometers. A rise in wear to have only a few meters of rest. The horseshoe curves of Las Cruces and the sea views will accompany us to a landscape with rich vegetation, approaching a thousand meters above sea level.

9 - Pico del Inglés (Pedro Álvarez)

Distance  10,5 Km
Gradient  5%

One of the secrets of Tenerife is its diversity of landscapes, and this ascent will take you directly into the “jungle”. The demanding slopes of Pedro Álvarez along a small winding road, among thousands of trees and almost without traffic, to the rural park of Anaga, with a second half with very few slopes and a descending section until at the Pico del Inglès viewpoint.

10 - El Boquerón

Distance  4,7 Km
Gradient  5,8%

Although not having the length or average of the other climbs on this list, the climb to Boquerón is a classic on the island. Its secret lies in the spectacular sea views during most of the ascent.
