SELECCIÓN TOP TENERIFE: Güímar – Carretera General del Sur

One of the most iconic road cycling routes in Tenerife is the one that runs along the Carretera General del Sur.

In this case, we will start in Guïmar, with the first few kilometres going uphill, passing by the Mirador de Pájara.

We will then follow a series of constant climbs, descents and curves. This is the hallmark and characteristic of this general road, as well as being one of the flattest on the whole island.

If you look to your left, you will be able to see the sea practically all along the route, in a constant viewpoint apart from the many others that you can visit.

Between Chimiche and Granadilla de Abona you will find another uphill section, with 6 kilometres that are quite easy.

Once you have passed San Miguel de Abona, the descent towards Playa de las Américas begins. Firstly following the Carretera General del Sur, but avoiding Chayofa to take La Camella towards the Monkey Park, as this descent has much less traffic.

This road is not signposted but is well paved and has good views to reach this very touristic part of the municipality of Arona.
