Description
The Andorra MTB Classic Pyrénées, a UCI category MTB adventure organized by the Epic Series team, is scheduled from June 29 to July 2, 2023. A race that brings together cyclists from all over the world who go to extremes and cross the spectacular mountains of the Andorran Pyrenees.
Registration
Registrations for the race must be made by teams of two riders. The existing categories are Open men and women, mixed, Masters and Grand Masters.
The registration price until January 1, 2023 is 1080 euros per team, and from that date until the closing date for registrations, 1320 euros.
Registration for the Andorra MTB Classic includes a welcome dinner, transfers from La Massana to the starting points of each stage, daily cleaning of the bike, a rider's gift, the Finisher medal, refreshments throughout the tour, coffee before departure and food upon arrival. It also gives the chance to qualify for the Absa Cape Epic event.
The Stages
Prologue
The first stage consists of 7 km with a slope of 260 m, in which the cyclists start from the Plaza de Fontetes in Arinsal. It is distinguished by its passage through the Vall Nord Bike Park, which hosts up to 7 UCI Mountain Bike World Cups, and the Alt de Comapedrosa, the highest peak in Andorra, with an altitude of 2,942 m.
Stage1
Stage 1 includes 42 km and 1,550 m of slope. From Plaza de les Fontetes, the first ascent to Pal combines sections of asphalt, path and tracks in the Vallnord bike park. From there, cyclists will begin a downhill section before starting the ascent of the Paso del Contrabandista, with a section of 300 meters on foot. Once back on the trails, participants return to La Massana, first passing a 1000m trail through the Bike Park.
Stage 2
Stage 2 begins in Canilo to Vall de Incles then to Grau Roig. From there, cyclists reach Lac des Pessons, before taking the paths leading to the Mont Màgic area. From there, cyclists continue to Canillo, where they will find the final ascent to the Coll d'Ordino, with a combination of defined road sections and trails. Once the climb to Coll, the route descends to La Massana to complete a 60 km stage with 1,950 m positive slope.
Etapa 3
The last stage consists of 49 km and 1,300 m slope, starting from Parque Naturlandia and ending at Bike Park in La Massana. A course whose highest point reaches 2,240 m, where participants will cross a bunker from the Spanish Civil War. Also note the passage through Planells de la Rabassa.
