Continental Ciclobrava | Sea Otter Europe

25/09/2024 8:00 am

Description

The Continental Ciclobrava is scheduled on September 24, within the framework of the Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona cycling festival, a cycling event created for two wheels' lovers to enjoy the roads of Girona by bike.

It is a non-competitive tour, in an area that has become one of the "golden" regions for professionals, who train and prepare for their competitions in Girona. A land of sea and mountains ideal for cycling, which in this edition is touring the Costa Brava.

To ensure the accessibility of this bike tour, there are three distances of 70, 100 and 140 kilometers. As this is not a competitive event, the goal is set by everyone. And this in the frame of the Sea Otter Europe festival, with the presence of major brands linked to bicycles, and the possibility of other events such as the Super Cup Massi (final event of the circuit).

La Ciclobrava sums up very well what Girona is. The departures and arrivals are those of the Sea Otter, on Paseo de la Devesa and the course adds a practice area with small climbs, the safety offered by roads with little traffic (training place for professionals living in Girona) and new landscapes for cyclists. Cycling between two opposing regions like the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean.

The route

The start and finish in the three distances will take place at the gates of the Sea Otter, on Paseo de la Devesa, where we will find small climbs to warm up before leaving.

The route with the ascent of Sant Grau d'Ardenyà. Although not a very difficult climb, it has a unique appeal, a route through the forest and crowning before the Mediterranean. Once conquered, starts the descent to sea level. Through towns such as Monells, a town of historic character, with the preservation of Romanesque architecture such as the ramparts. Enjoy not only a special natural landscape, but also sites with a centuries-old history. The final strength is made with the climb to Montjuic, with panoramic views of the old town of Girona, from where you finally descend to cross the river Ter and the Paseo de la Devesa to return to the point of origin.

Long Distance

The long distance route will have 140 kilometers and 1750 meters of positive slope. This route has 4 climbs: Sant Grau d'Ardenya, Romanyà, La Ganga and Montjuic.

Short Distance

Also four climbs in its 95 kilometers, with 1000 meters of positive slope: Romanyà, La Ganga, Madremanya and Montjuic.

Mini Distance

Three climbs over its 70 kilometers, with a positive slope of 800 meters: Santa Pellaia, Madremanya and Montjuïc.
