Description
The XVII of the FREE MOTION Desafío la Titánica in Gran Canaria is scheduled on March 18, 2023. A top-level race that is endorsed by its UCI seal. We are facing a major challenge, with the very tough ascent of the Valle de las Lágrimas, where participants will once again have to face its 25% gradients.
Registration
Registration depends on whether or not the participants are part of the Canary Islands Federation. Members of the Canary Islands federation can register for 55 euros until December 31, 2022, and 65 from that date. In the case of non-federates, registration is 65 euros until December 31 and 75 euros after this date.
Event registration includes, among other things, a runner’s bag, race jersey, accident insurance, timing system, refreshments, time checkpoints, health care, mechanical assistance during the stage, a finisher’s medal, food and awards ceremony.
The stage
The cyclists who register for the event will face a major challenge: 138 km with 3,480 m of positive slope, 2 km sections with average gradients of 17-20% and a maximum altitude of 1,400 m. All this with 3 timed sections and where the participants will have a maximum time of 7 hours to finish it. The hardest moment of the entire route comes when the participants have to face the climb to the Valle de las lágrimas, with 11.8 km of average gradient at 8% and maximum gradient at 25%, which can take the cyclists about an hour to complete.
