Description
The Zarautz Triathlon is one of the great veterans of the Spanish triathlon scene. Held since 1987, it invites you to get closer to the town of Zarautz and the Urola Kosta region, combining tough circuits of great beauty in this Half distance considered the King of the North and the Mecca of Triathlon.
The stage
The triathlon begins with a difficult swimming section of 2.9 km from Getaria to Zarautz, in the open sea and reserved for the most prepared. The cycling segment is 80 km consisting of two laps, one of a 32.2 km circuit and the other of 47.8 km. Participants will have to climb 3 times from Zarautz to the climb of Meagas, with an average gradient of 3.5% and a distance of 3.9 km. In addition, they will have to complete a challenge such as the Muro de San Blas, located near Zarautz. Finally, the 21 km running segment will pass through some of the emblematic places of Zaratuz, such as the footbridge over the dunes, the Malecón or the Kale Nagusia, divided into 3 laps of 6.2 km.
