Zalla – Muskiz – Las Muñecas – Bezi

Description

The route starts from Zalla towards Güeñes, towards Valle de Galdames (valley) via the Alto de Humaran. We leave behind the monumental church of Santa María, from the 16th century, which integrates Gothic and Renaissance elements. The route takes us very close to Torre Loizaga, a 14th century fortress with the largest collection of Rolls Royce in Europe.

From Galdames we continue towards Muskiz following the road parallel to the basin of the Río Barbadun, full of remains of old mills, forges and bridges. The oldest dates back to the 15th century and form a monumental complex dominated by the Ferreria El Pobal, a forge from 1504 that is still in use as a museum.

From Muskiz we cycle into Cantabria and after 20 kilometers we reach Bizkaia again via the climb of Las Muñecas. Once descending and past Sopuerta, we head to the Alto de Bezi to return to Zalla through the Otxaran district, next to the largest txakoli vineyard in Europe.
