SELECCIÓN TOP TENERIFE: Arico – Poris de Abona – Ventiladores

Description

One of the classic routes in southern Tenerife, focusing on roads—especially during the ascent—that are practically traffic-free and allow you to enjoy the challenge of gaining positive elevation on the island.

We depart from Villa de Arico via the Carretera General del Sur, starting with a descent where you can enjoy its constant curves and rolling terrain.

You’ll have a long descent to Poris de Abona via the TF-625. This road has a bit more traffic, but it is perfectly paved. Additionally, remember that during long descents, you can use the center of the road to increase your safety. You can visit this beautiful town before starting the climb. Afterward, a second-category climb awaits, stretching over 10 kilometers with an average gradient of just over 5%.

No, even though it may seem like it, you’re not on the moon. But this lunar-like landscape will accompany you for much of the ascent, as will the wind turbines that give this climb its popular name.

You’ll enjoy a beautiful, nearly traffic-free ascent on well-paved roads, which will take you back to Arico.
