North, South, East or West of Majorca?
Difficult choice, right? No doubt, the north of Majorca is the one that has strengthened itself as a benchmark cycling destination. Pollença, Alcúdia, Playa de Muro … all the coastal towns which have the two emblematic climbs of the island within easy reach: Sa Calobra and Cap de Formentor.
However, investments in infrastructure for cyclists have spread all over the island, creating very attractive routes that cross the borders of the Serra de Tramuntana.
For example, inland roads have the comparative advantage of accessibility and low gradient, as well as wide roads that allow less experienced cyclists to feel safe on the road.
In the south of Majorca we have a wide range of coastal routes. If you’re a cycling enthusiast while enjoying the cliffs and coasts around you, this area might be the one for you, hiding some must-see gems.
Finally, the northwestern region of the island connects the Serra de Tramuntana with Calvià, which can intersect easier routes along the coast, easier routes along the coast, with others that are slightly more rugged at the entrance to the mountain. From Calvià you can cycle to charming towns such as Galilea or Valldemossa, through el Coll de sa Creu, and if you are a seasoned cyclist, join Soller.
The wide range of hotels for cyclists has grown over the years. As Majorca has become a growing destination for cycling enthusiasts, accommodations have realized that the quality is key role for the customer who loves cycling.
In fact, many of the island’s accommodations already have their Cycling Friendly certifications, with the provision of a Cycling Center to store your bike and adapt it to each route.
There is a wide variety of accommodations, some more affordable than others. To the north, there are Gold certified hotels, such as the PortBlue Club Pollentia Resort & Spa or Hotel Bahía de Alcúdia. In the south-east you will also find other Gold certified hotels such as the Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis. And if you prefer to stay in the city of Palma, you have the option at the Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel.

The section that goes from Playa de Muro to Port de Pollença is a warm-up for an ascent that alternates sections with demanding slopes and others that combine less steep climbs and descents.
Be especially careful with goats and other animals that may graze in the area, neither you nor the animal want to be shocked.
One of the most characteristic and demanding routes in Majorca, where you can enjoy the climbs of Coll de sa Batalla and sa Calobra. Enjoy the exceptional view of the Serra de Tramuntana from Sa Calobra. A photo of the famous “tie knot” is a must have in every cycling album. 4. Palma – Santueri – Sant Salvador

In the Felanitx region you have the two main climbs: Castell de Santueri, with two very hard last kilometers, and the famous Puig de Sant Salvador. We tend to think of ourselves as living in linear time that is constantly traveling into the future and whose present is impossible to remember. However, there are times when everything stops, the world freezes and inside we realize that we are facing a unique spot that we will preserve until the end of our days.
This is probably the feeling more than one person has felt after conquering one of the most iconic climbs on the island, and here we bring you 5 that you should not miss.
At each port conquered a piece of soul remains there, but it gives us a moment of life.
10.36 km | 665 m
The most emblematic ascent of the island. A 10 km with an average slope of 7% and short ramps, which… in some cases exceed 20%!
14.29 km | 863 m
The longest climb on the island, with more than 14 km. An essential climb for any cyclist, with a very constant slope, on average 6%.
7.49 km | 410 m
Starting in Pollença, the ascent to the Coll de Femenía reflects how little the beauty of the Serra de Tramuntana is. 8 kilometers at 6% average slope!
5.17 km | 257 m
Bike paradise where you can enjoy 6 km of ascent with an incline of 5%. The most famous horseshoe curves on the island!
3.12 km | 1571 m
The ascent to the Faro de Formentor (lighthouse) begins with a 3.2 kilometer steep climb to the Coll de Sa Creueta, with a slope of 6% whose reward is the spectacular view. After a mandatory break to contemplate the magnificent views, we will proceed to a steep descent that continues to the beach of Formentor, then a gradual climb but less difficult than from there to the Faro de Formentor (lighthouse). A section to enjoy with every pedal stroke.
Atttention! It is important to save energy for the return trip, mainly for the first part of the return from the lighthouse and for the ascent to the belvedere, with steeper slopes than on the outward journey and which caused more than a bonk.
Between June 15 and September 15, car traffic is restricted, so if you don’t melt in the heat, you can take the opportunity to have a clear road.
If you are an experienced cyclist, you can take advantage of the conquest to visit Sa Talaia d’Albercutx.
