Costa Atlántica MTB Tour
Description
The Costa Atlántica MTB Tour will take place in Pontevedra, offering a three‑stage mountain bike challenge designed for both individual riders and pairs. The event features a nighttime time trial followed by two marathon stages, all raced under the official regulations of the Spanish Cycling Federation.
The race begins on Friday, April 10, at 20:00, with a spectacular 3.5 km urban night prologue through the old town of Pontevedra. Riders start in waves of six, with one‑minute intervals, and the circuit opens an hour earlier for reconnaissance. Times from this stage count toward the general classification.
Stage 2, known as Tocando el mar, covering approximately 77 km with 1,400 m of elevation gain. The course mixes coastal tracks, beaches, forest paths and technical climbs, including a challenging ascent early in the stage and scenic sections such as the Mosteiro de Armenteira and the Ruta da Pedra e da Auga, before leading riders toward Meaño and Castrove.
Stage 3, Donde nacen los senderos, is held on Sunday, April 12, covering 65 km with 1,500 m of elevation gain. After a neutralized start, riders head toward Lago Castiñeiras, tackling steep ramps, wooded climbs and flowing descents that define the final and decisive stage of the event.
The Costa Atlántica MTB Tour follows a Challenge format, meaning each stage is classified independently. Participants who fail to complete a stage may continue racing the following day and are assigned the time of the last finisher for the stage not completed. The event also accepts e‑MTB bikes and offers the option to register for the final day only.
With its combination of coastal scenery, forest trails and demanding climbs, Costa Atlántica MTB Tour 2026 promises a dynamic and memorable multi‑stage experience in Galicia’s Atlantic landscape.
