Gran Fondo Michele Scarponi
Description
The Gran Fondo Michele Scarponi – Strade Imbrecciate will take place on April 19, starting and finishing in Filottrano, in the Marche region of Italy. The event was created to honour the memory of professional cyclist Michele Scarponi and features routes that pass through the roads where he trained.
The 2026 edition offers three road routes—approximately 120 km, 84 km and 53 km—all designed to highlight the rolling terrain of the provinces of Ancona and Macerata. The long route features demanding elevation profiles with steep climbs and scenic ridgelines, reaching around 2,300 m of total elevation gain. In addition, a gravel route with downloadable GPS tracks is available for riders wishing to explore the off‑road version of Scarponi’s training landscape.
Following Michele Scarponi’s original idea, the event includes sections of white gravel roads, giving rise to its name Strade Imbrecciate. These segments add a unique character to the ride and reflect the mixed‑terrain style that Scarponi enjoyed.
Registration fees for 2026 follow a tiered structure: €40 from November 29 to December 31, €45 from January 1 to March 30, €50 from April 1 to April 17, and €55 for on‑site registration on April 18–19. Bundle options with other regional gran fondos are also available.
The Gran Fondo Michele Scarponi combines sporting challenge, emotional tribute and regional promotion, inviting participants to discover the cultural and natural heritage of the Marche region while keeping alive the memory of one of Italy’s most beloved cyclists.
