Iron Gravel
Description
Iron Gravel 2026 (IronGravel Alicante) will take place from Apr /May, with start and finish in Alicante, on Spain’s Mediterranean coast. This ultra‑distance gravel event has become a reference race for riders seeking a long‑distance, self‑managed challenge in varied and demanding terrain.
The event follows an ultra‑gravel and bikepacking format, combining fast gravel roads, rural tracks and mountainous sections across the interior of the province of Alicante. Long distances, accumulated elevation and changing terrain define a route where endurance, navigation and energy management are as important as riding speed.
Iron Gravel offers three distance options, all ridden in a single stage within the event window. The longest 360 km route includes approximately 4,500 metres of elevation gain, designed for experienced ultra‑distance riders. The 200 km route features around 2,500 metres of elevation gain, while the 100 km option, with roughly 1,600 metres of elevation gain, provides a shorter but still demanding introduction to the Iron Gravel experience.
Iron Gravel is a non‑competitive, self‑supported event, focused on personal challenge, resilience and strategic decision‑making rather than racing. Riders are responsible for their own pacing, nutrition and equipment, reinforcing the adventure‑oriented spirit of gravel cycling.
With its early‑season timing, long distances and diverse Mediterranean landscapes, Iron Gravel has established itself as a key gravel endurance event in southern Europe, attracting riders looking to push their limits in a true ultra‑distance cycling experience.
