Madrid 7 Picos
Description
Madrid 7 Picos will take place on May, with start and finish in Buitrago del Lozoya, in the northern area of the Community of Madrid. This demanding road‑cycling event has become one of the most attractive mountain challenges close to the Spanish capital, offering a true high‑mountain experience within easy reach of Madrid.
The route runs through the Sierra Norte de Madrid, combining long climbs, technical descents and quiet mountain roads in a spectacular natural setting. Riders can choose between different route options, including the full 7 Picos course for experienced cyclists seeking a major endurance challenge, and a shorter alternative that still delivers significant elevation gain and a demanding profile.
The 7 Picos route covers approximately 145 km with around 2,900 metres of elevation gain, tackling seven consecutive mountain passes and requiring solid endurance and climbing ability. The shorter 4 Picos option spans about 73 km with roughly 1,520 metres of elevation gain, offering a more accessible but still mountainous challenge.
Madrid 7 Picos 2026 is a non‑competitive cyclo‑sportive event, focused on personal challenge, endurance and controlled riding rather than racing. The succession of mountain passes, sustained climbs and constant elevation changes make it a physically demanding ride, while the mountain scenery provides a distinctive and memorable backdrop.
With its well‑organized structure, emphasis on safety and its proximity to Madrid, Madrid 7 Picos has established itself as a reference event for cyclists looking to test themselves on one of the most challenging road routes in central Spain.
