Description
The Triatlón Desafío Castilla y León returns in 2026 with two confirmed race dates in Medina de Rioseco (Valladolid), making full use of the historic Canal de Castilla as the core setting for the swim and run segments. The Desafío Kids event will take place on 21 June 2026, while the main adult event will be held on 9 August 2026. Athletes can choose between the traditional Middle Distance (1.9 km swim, 90 km bike, 21 km run), the Short Distance (1.4 km swim, 30 km bike, 10.5 km run), or a newly introduced format featuring a 1.6 km swim, 60 km bike and 14 km run.
The swim segment takes place in the calm waters of the Canal de Castilla. The bike course maintains its classic fast out‑and‑back route, starting at Colegio Campos Góticos, exiting through the historic Puerta de San Sebastián and heading toward Tamariz de Campos along the VP‑4504 and VA‑920, with a 180-degree turn on the VP‑4008 before returning on the opposite lane. The run follows the canal towpaths, passing through the docks area, the Dársena park and the municipal sports facilities, with the finish line located at the municipal football field.
Registrations for the 2026 edition are already open. Fees range from €80 to €125 for the Middle Distance depending on registration date and federation status, with a limit of 80 participants. The Short Distance ranges from €35 to €55 with a limit of 70 participants. Pricing for the new 1.6/60/14 format is yet to be confirmed.
