Description
Colnago GF Mont Ventoux is a cyclosportive and gravel weekend based in Vaison-la-Romaine, in the Vaucluse (Provence, France). The 2027 edition runs over two days: three gravel routes on Saturday 5 June 2027 and two timed road routes on Sunday 6 June 2027. The road courses head for the summit of Mont Ventoux, which the organiser describes as almost 2,000 m high, and finish up there. It is part of the organiser’s GF Series, with the Provence Occitane and Luberon events.
Routes and distances
Two road routes and three gravel routes are listed for 2027.
The Granfondo (Chrono) covers 118 km with 3,300 m of climbing and five climbs, with Mont Ventoux as the centrepiece. The organiser’s route page gives 118 km, though its homepage button says 120 km, and it does not name the other four climbs. The course passes La Gabelle twice, with feed stations at km 39 and km 86. At km 75 slower riders are redirected to the medium course via Sault, and the main route then reaches the foot of Ventoux at Sainte-Colombe (km 103) before the final climb past Chalet Reynard to the summit.
The Mediofondo (Chrono) covers 101 km with 2,650 m of climbing and four climbs, reaching the Ventoux summit via Sault. The organiser calls this the least demanding Ventoux ascent, though it gets much harder after Chalet Reynard. Both Sunday road routes finish at the summit, with a recovery feed at Mont Sérein about 6 km after the finish.
On the Saturday, the 104 km gravel route has 2,000 m of climbing and loops through the Dentelles de Montmirail and the AOC Ventoux vineyards before returning to Vaison. It is not timed and has no rankings. The shorter Saturday options are a 78 km and a 43 km gravel route (we did not open their pages).
The road start is on Sunday 6 June 2027 at 07:30 from Avenue du Général de Gaulle, with the grid opening at 06:30, and the gravel start is on Saturday 5 June at 08:30. On the Granfondo, riders not through Sainte-Colombe (km 103) by 12:20 are removed from the Ventoux ascent and sent on towards Vaison-la-Romaine. The event jersey must be worn on the road routes. In 2026 the D974 from Chalet Reynard past the summit to Mont Sérein was closed to non-event traffic from 08:00 to 16:00 on the Sunday; the 2027 restrictions are still to come. We found no public GPX downloads; gravel riders receive their GPX by email the week before.
Registration
The organiser’s English homepage lists two ways to register until 21 March 2027: individual entry, or a pack covering the three GF Series events (gravel excluded). According to the organiser’s FAQ, road entries are priced in tiers: €95 for the first 500 places (listed as sold out), €112 for the next 500 and €121 for the next 3,500, with 4% bank and platform fees added. The pack gives 10% off when combined with the Provence Occitane and Luberon events. The road entry includes the event jersey, timing chip, finisher medal and bottle.
Bibs are collected at the village expo (Espace Culturel Patrick Fabre) on Friday 4 June 2027 from 14:00 to 19:00 and Saturday 5 June from 09:00 to 19:00. For the road routes the FAQ asks for a competition licence, a medical certificate dated within the last year or a recent FFC health questionnaire; gravel needs none.
Full details are on the official website.
Why ride it
The road routes finish at the summit of Mont Ventoux, the giant of Provence, which the organiser describes as almost 2,000 m high. The same weekend offers gravel on the Saturday through the AOC Ventoux vineyards. Vaison-la-Romaine hosts a village expo, a finishers’ restaurant and the Sunday afternoon awards ceremonies.
Where to stay
None of our certified cycling-friendly hotels is yet listed close to Vaison-la-Romaine. The organiser’s website has an accommodation section under practical information, which we have not reviewed; as it is a two-day event with bib collection on the Friday, it is worth booking early. You can browse more cycling-friendly accommodation on Cycling Friendly.
The 2027 weekend is based in Vaison-la-Romaine. The road routes start on Sunday 6 June 2027 on Avenue du Général de Gaulle and finish at the Mont Ventoux summit; the gravel routes leave on Saturday 5 June 2027 from the village expo at Espace Culturel Patrick Fabre. The organiser has not given a gravel finish other than the return to Vaison-la-Romaine on the 104 km route.
Road: the 118 km Granfondo (3,300 m of climbing, five climbs) and the 101 km Mediofondo (2,650 m, four climbs, Ventoux via Sault). Gravel: 104 km (2,000 m), 78 km and 43 km. The 118 km figure comes from the route page (the homepage says 120 km), and the organiser does not publish climb-by-climb gradients.
