Turtzioz – Armañón

MTB cycling route starting from the Agüera neighborhood – the central nucleus of Turtzioz – towards Parque Natural de Armañón, an area of karstic terrain and landscapes. Thanks to these stone massifs, Armañón enjoys a microclimate that has allowed Mediterranean holm oak and beech forests to grow just a few kilometers from the Cantabrian coast.

During the route, of medium difficulty, we will skirt the Remendón oak grove, a forest of enormous and centuries-old trees, the largest in Bizkaia. From here we can see the peak of Armañón, with its rounded summit inhabited by grazing horses, pottokas, sheep and cows grazing.

Turtzioz shares, together with the Valle de Karrantza (valley), the ownership of Parque Natural de Armañón. Returning to our starting point on the southern flank of the park, through a thick area next to the limit with the Valle de Villaverde (valley), a Cantabrian enclave in Enkarterri.
