Santiponce – Carmona
Description
This third stage of the Vía Augusta by bike covers 66.68 km with an elevation gain of 522 meters.
We begin by passing the Monastery of San Isidoro del Campo, heading towards Camas via segregated bike lanes, which we’ll also use to cross Hispalis (Seville).
From Seville, we exit towards Alcalá de Guadaira, following the trail to its Puerta Verde, entering through the Camino Amarillo. We skirt the town via the Camino del Bosque and Camino de los Molinos, then take the exit through the Ruins of the Station to join the Vía Verde de los Alcores—formerly known as the Vía de los Panaderos, an ancient rural route that once supplied bread to Seville. Today, it offers a scenic ride through olive groves and cereal fields.
We arrive in Carmona, a historic strategic hub that once connected Hispalis with Corduba. The route passes the Roman Mausoleum and leads to the archaeological complex, including the Roman Necropolis and Amphitheatre, where this third segment of the Vía Augusta by bike concludes.
