Vía Verde del Noroeste – Región of Murcia

Our route today will cover between 25 and 30 kilometers of adventure. Most of the route will be practically flat, although halfway through the journey, we will experience a comfortable and gradual ascent that will take us to the beautiful town of Mula. We will start our bike journey from our hotel in Murcia city, initially heading along a bike lane parallel to the Segura River, crossing the fertile orchard of Murcia. As we progress, we will enter landscapes of drier countryside, where we will have the pleasure of enjoying the impressive "badlands" between the fields that connect the rivers and Mula. At the end of this stage of our journey, we will arrive in Mula, where our next accommodation awaits for lunch and rest. Mula is known for its thermal baths, which were highly coveted by the Romans in ancient times. Currently, there are establishments that offer access to these thermal waters, a highly recommended option after more than 20 kilometers on a bike. In the afternoon, you'll have free time to explore the charming town of Mula, stroll around, and rest in preparation for the exciting experiences of the next day.

Our journey continues along a dirt road that stretches for approximately 22 kilometers. During this stretch, we will experience a very gradual ascent that will take us to the charming town of Bullas. This bike stage is suitable for cyclists of all levels, making it accessible to a diverse audience. As we progress, the landscape will begin to transform progressively. We will move from the orchard cultivation fields to a mountainous setting as we enter the interior of the region. Bullas is famous for its Designation of Origin in wines, which are highly recognized internationally. We will arrive just in time for lunch, a perfect moment to enjoy the delicious local cuisine accompanied by the renowned wines of the region. In the afternoon, you'll have free time to explore the charming town of Bullas and relax. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the interesting Wine Museum to learn more about the rich winemaking tradition of the area.

We are in the final stretch of our exciting adventure! We will continue along a dirt road that extends over the final 20 kilometers. Throughout this stage, we will encounter sections with gentle ascents and descents, with elevations of approximately 100 meters. The surrounding landscape will stand out as one of the most picturesque of the entire route. We will depart from Bullas and pass through the charming town of Cehegín on our way to the final destination, Caravaca de la Cruz. During this journey, we will enjoy various tunnels, mountainous landscapes, vineyards, and, as a culmination, explore the old town of Caravaca de la Cruz. We will reach our goal around noon, which will be the perfect time to enjoy a well-deserved meal and savor the delicious local tapas accompanied by the excellent wines of the region. In the afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to visit various museums, such as the Museum of the Wine Horses, or explore the Sanctuary of the Vera Cruz, thus completing your unforgettable experience in this region full of history and beauty.
