Description
The Granfondo Internazionale Felice Gimondi, promoted as the BGY Airport Granfondo, is a road cyclosportive that starts and finishes at the Bergamo Stadium in Via Marzabotto, in Bergamo, Lombardy. The organiser’s 2027 pages give the date as Sunday 9 May 2027, with a mass start planned for 7:00 and a grid system based on race numbers. Timing is included in the entry fee, and the event is open to riders on three routes of 91, 130 and 148 km.
Routes and distances
The 2027 regulations list three road routes, each with its official elevation gain.
The long route covers 148 km with 2,800 m of climbing. The organiser’s route page gives no elevation figure of its own and names no climbs in its text.
The medium route covers 130 km with 2,100 m of climbing. The short route covers 91 km with 1,400 m of climbing.
All three routes start together from the stadium and share the early kilometres. Time gates in the regulations and FAQ show where they separate: the Nembro turn-off to Selvino at km 45.3, the Ambria crossroads at km 72.8 and the Val Brembilla crossroads at km 113.
The organiser does not publish lengths or gradients for individual climbs, so use the GPX files to study the course. Riders who miss the gates are redirected to a shorter route: after Nembro to Bergamo, after Ambria to the 91 km course, after Val Brembilla to the 130 km course (per the regulations).
The start and finish lines are both at the stadium, where the organiser’s FAQ says the finish lanes are split by distance, with the short route on the right, the medium in the middle and the long on the left. The pasta party, showers and a guarded bike deposit are inside the Lazzaretto area.

Practical notes: grid entry runs from 6:10 to 6:50, and latecomers start from the last grid. The regulations set finish limits of 5 hours for the 91 km, 6 hours for the 130 km and 7 hours for the 148 km (the FAQ gives a different clock time for the 148 km, so check). Refreshment points are set roughly every 35 km at the roadside, with four fixed mechanical-assistance points at similar spacing. The FAQ says vehicles can use the roads during the event and the Highway Code must be respected. Official GPX and TCX files are offered on the route pages, but they sit in a 2026 upload folder, so check them against the 2027 course.
Registration
Online registration opened on Monday 26 October 2026 and the regulations give a deadline of Saturday 17 April 2027, unless the committee decides otherwise. The standard entry fee is €50, which the FAQ says includes three race numbers, the official magazine, timing, a finisher medal, a diploma and a pasta-party voucher. A special-price option at €110 adds the official 2027 jersey (per the regulations). Riders without a licence pay a €15 daily card, which includes insurance valid on the day.
The regulations require a medical certificate of physical eligibility for cycling, with specific rules for UCI-licensed, foreign and health-logo riders, so read the regulations before entering. Race numbers and packs are collected on Saturday 8 May 2027 from 9:30 to 18:30, with the payment receipt, and are not handed out on Sunday morning. The collection point is given as the Santini Store in the FAQ and as the Expo Village at Santini Factory, Via Zanica 14, in the regulations.
Full details are on the official website.
Why ride it
All three routes start and finish at the Bergamo Stadium, and the FAQ says the pasta party, showers and a guarded bike deposit are inside the Lazzaretto there. Medals are handed out just past the line, and the finish lanes are split by distance. The FAQ puts Milan Bergamo airport about 4 km from the city, and the 2027 grid page includes a separate grid for e-bikes and other types of bicycle.
Where to stay
Riders need to be in Bergamo on the Saturday to collect their race number, as numbers are not given out on race morning. The organiser’s pages we read do not recommend specific hotels, and we do not yet list a certified cycling-friendly hotel within 40 km of the start. Bergamo itself is the obvious base, since the start is in the city. You can browse more cycling-friendly accommodation and book early.
