Balmaseda – Kolitza – Burgueño – Mazapando – Mirador

MTB cycling route from Balmaseda to the summit of Kolitza, one of the five Horn Mountains in Biscay. 879 m, crowned by the Ermita Romanica de San Roque (Romanesque Hermitage of San Roque). Impressive breathtaking views over the valleys of the area, which more than make up for the steep and rugged terrain.

Once in Kolitza, we descend briefly before starting a new ascent to the summit of Burgueño, at 1,044 m. The route will take us through oak and beech forests, after which we will enter Mazapando region, marked by several Bronze Age burial mounds.

Montes de Ordunte are home to the largest concentration of megalithic monuments in Biscay, and we will be lucky enough to come across a few on our way.
