Ecija – Almodovar

Description

We return to the Vía Verde de la Campiña, leaving it in the direction of Guadalcázar. We will pass through this town to take the path from Almodóvar del Río to Guadalcázar, which is practically an extension of the Vía Verde due to its characteristics. This stage covers a distance of 53.04 kilometers and has a total elevation gain of 349 meters.

Connecting with the CO-3313 road, and right at the bridge over the Guadalquivir River, we will enjoy an incredible panoramic view of the city, which was a key crossroads and river port during Roman times. Part of this history can be explored at the Guadalquivir Valley Visitor Center. Passing through Plaza San Fernando, we will enjoy more spectacular views, this time of the city and the Castle of Almodóvar del Río, which we recommend visiting. From there, you can see the Portus Romano, the ancient river port.

Plaza de la Constitución and the Mirador del Ribazo are other tourist attractions we will find along our route. If we decide to stop in this town, we can visit the La Breña II Nature Activity Center and enjoy panoramic views of the reservoir.
