Almodovar – Cordoba.

Description

We begin a new stage, the seventh, now heading toward Córdoba, this time by road via the CO-3310 and the A-3501. At the intersection between both roads, we will find a turnoff toward the Vía Verde de la Campiña, another option for reaching Córdoba.

This stage covers a distance of 36.4 kilometers and has a total elevation gain of 308 meters.

Due to its importance, the route through this city offers a wide variety of monuments to visit. We will come across the Calahorra Tower, which leads us onto Córdoba’s Roman bridge, continuing until we pass through the Puerta del Puente. Along the bike lane, we will pass by the Alcázar of the Christian Monarchs and continue along the segregated network until reaching the archaeological site of Cercadilla, a complex of late Roman and early medieval remains, including the ruins of the palace of Maximianus Herculeus.

Crossing the Jardines de la Agricultura, we will find the Roman mausoleums of Puerta de Gallegos. We will continue our route past the Palacio de la Merced and around its gardens, then pass by the City Hall and reach the spectacular Roman Temple of Claudius Marcellus. We will end this stretch of the Via Augusta with a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Córdoba, which holds as much historical and cultural richness as the city itself.
