Etapa 6 de la Ruta dels Bons Homes
Description
A more demanding route from the physical point of view, characterized by two long ascents and a descent from the Roc de Quercourt to Montaillou, which leaves us with a very positive sensation at the end of the day. The day begins again with a long climb, this time along the southern face, with more than 500 meters of unevenness. Although technically affordable, ascent demands considerable physical effort. No respite along the entire ascent, we reach a small hill from which we must find the descent track, surrounded by thickets. Although it presents some slopes pronounced at the beginning, it passes through solid terrain and always between forests, finally descending to Lake Goulours. We surround the lake and join the road that descends from the Coll de Pailheres. After a few hundred meters, we left the road to get to Sorgeat, first by an asphalted track and then by a path. In Sorgeat, we can supply water at the source of Piccou and prepare for the second prolonged rise of the day, first by asphalt and then by track and road. Just before reaching the plain of La Garde, where we see the Chioula refuge, we find the most steep ramps, where we are likely to have to push the bicycle to finally reach the main track that will take us to the Coll de Pierre Blanche (1551m) . Following the route of the great tour Ariege Pyrenees (indicated with plates from the BTT center of the area), we board the technically more challenging section and, at the same time, the funniest of the route, being cyclable if there is a certain skill. The beginning is a rise and down on a herboso road that becomes a path before reaching the Roc of Quercourt (1670m, optional). Most of the journey is a descent, by trails and roads, to the town and the castle of Montaillou. After exploring the castle, the last two kilometers to Camurac become a quiet walk along a flat track.
