SELECCIÓN MTB TENERIFE: La Guancha – Arenas Negras

Description

This mountain bike or gravel route is ideal for discovering the incredible tracks in the north of the island.

Especially in its most volcanic area, with a characteristic black colour, due to the mixture of earth and volcanic rock.

We leave La Guancha by the demanding climb of El Lagar, with ramps of more than 10%. We will then go onto dirt tracks, smoothing out the gradient and enjoying the Fuente Santa track, one of the tracks authorised by the Environment for cycling.

At the end of this trail we will be in the most volcanic area, with a spectacular and unique landscape. We will have to climb Arenas Negras, bordering Chinyero, a stretch of 6.3 kilometres at an average of 6.4%.

We are now practically at the highest point of this route, and it is time to flatten out a little on the El Agujero track, which we will follow for about 15 kilometres until we join the descent along the Fuente Pedro track.

We pass the Risco de las Palomas viewpoint, take the La Tahona track and descend via El Lagar back to La Guancha, to complete a route you will remember for the rest of your life.
