SELECCIÓN TOP TENERIFE: Candelaria – Los Loros – Teide

Description

On this route, we discover one of the slopes to climb the Teide. We will accumulate more than 3,200 metres of positive difference in altitude because we will pass practically from sea level to almost 3,000 metres above sea level.

The route starts in the municipality of Candelaria towards Arafo, to then tackle the ascent of Los Loros, 18 kilometres at 6.9% which, individually, would be a special category pass.

But this route is linked to other climbs that lead us to climb almost 40 kilometres continuously.

Undoubtedly, one of the great challenges if you come to cycle touring Tenerife.

We’ll pass Las Cañadas and we’ll end up crowning the imperial Teide, where you won’t be able to stop taking pictures.

After the corresponding stop, we have good news for you: it’s time to descend all that you have climbed! If you were feeling strong enough, you could go down via Vilaflor and follow the Carretera General del Sur, but you would accumulate more than 4,000 metres of elevation gain.

That’s why we suggest this alternative, heading directly along the Carretera de la Esperanza to Los Loros, Arafo and Candelaria.
