SELECCIÓN TOP TENERIFE: Puerto de la Cruz – Lagunetas – Teide
Description
One of the essential routes for cycle touring on the road in Tenerife. The visit to the colossal Teide, in this case via Las Lagunetas, with almost 50 kilometres of ascent.
It’s quite a challenge just to read about it, but we’ll explain how you’ll enjoy it.
We leave Puerto de la Cruz, one of the most touristy towns on the island, towards La Victoria de Acentejo. We take the service road to avoid practically all traffic and reach El Sauzal.
From here, a steady climb begins. Firstly via Agua García towards La Esperanza. We are in the middle of a special category mountain pass, due to its length and the fact that it takes us to an altitude of over 2,300 metres.
Especially after La Esperanza, on the road to Las Cañadas del Teide, there is a gentle and constant slope, which will lead us, after a short descent, to the summit of Mount Teide.
We return to El Portillo to descend, this time through La Orotava with its horseshoe bends and viewpoints such as Piedra la Rosa or Mataznos to Puerto de la Cruz.
