SELECCIÓN TOP TENERIFE: San Cristóbal de La Laguna – Parque Nacional del Teide

One of the essential routes for road cycling tourism in Tenerife, visiting the great colossus of Teide.

We leave the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna towards La Esperanza. We are already in the middle of a special category pass. Nothing more and nothing less than 53.5 kilometres await us. More than 50kms of ascent reaching an altitude of more than 2,300 metres. Without a doubt, a challenge of great magnitude for any cyclist.

The good news is that the average gradient is an affordable 4.2%. In other words, it is a quiet climb, without big ramps, but very long and with a lot of altitude.

After reaching the top of the pass there is still a short climb up and down through Las Cañadas del Teide to the cable car cafeteria.

We return via El Portillo to the Carretera de La Esperanza, but this time we descend via Los Loros to Arafo and Candelaria.

After a stretch along the Carretera General del Sur, we choose the road through Geneto to find the option with the least traffic to return to La Laguna.
