Description
The Climia Benidorm Plaza – Rates – Confrides route is a demanding and scenic road cycling challenge that links three of the Costa Blanca’s most iconic climbs. The ride begins with a steep opening section through Polop, Callosa and Bolulla, featuring gradients above 10% before heading into the long ascent toward Tàrbena. The climb continues through several sustained segments, averaging between 5–7%, until reaching the top of Coll de Rates, one of the region’s most famous cycling viewpoints.
After Rates, the route crosses rolling terrain toward Castell de Castells and Facheca, followed by a steady climb toward Confrides Pass from the southern side. This ascent offers consistent gradients around 5% and beautiful mountain scenery. Once over the top, a fast and technical descent leads back toward Guadalest and Benimantell, with several sections dropping at –7% and –8%.
The return to Benidorm includes a mix of long downhill stretches, small ramps, and smooth riding through La Nucía and Polop before finishing back near the hotel. This route is ideal for cyclists looking for a full-day mountain challenge, combining long climbs, multiple passes, and stunning inland landscapes.
