R08 LA LOBERA DE OROEL

Description

Circular route starting from the village of Barós, about 3 km from Jaca, so you can also do it by starting from Jaca and reaching Barós via asphalt, or you can start route 11 from Jaca and, once in Barós, continue with route 8.

This route passes through three villages on the shady side of Mount Oroel, so you can also start the route from either Ulle or Navasa.

It is one of the shortest routes you can find at Jaca Pirineos Bikeland. It is only 18 km, but 18 intense km with 882 m of positive elevation gain, which makes it one of the toughest routes, with 83% singletrack.

It has two very hard climbing trails and three descents of medium difficulty, except for the start of the first trail, where you will need to be an expert enduro rider. The wolves of Oroel will be waiting for you if you don’t manage to get through the challenge.

Starting the route in Barós, at first you will have a strong but beautiful climb on singletrack. We reach the track that leads to the Parador de Oroel and, from there, link up via singletrack to continue the climb over the hardest 600 m of the route, which leaves us at the summit of the Monte de la Soma.

From here we start the first descent of the route: 1.5 km of singletrack starting with a notable section and an average gradient of 20%, fast but very forgiving. We reach the bottom of the Ulle river and then link up with the Fuenferré path, climbing again to the Parador track.

We link up via a climbing trail to the descent of the Cajicar de Navasa, which takes us to the village of Navasa, a beautiful 1.5 km trail through oak trees.

From Navasa we climb comfortably along the road and paved track to reach the foothills of the Peña Oroel again, and enjoy the last descent trail, which leads to Ulle and continues along an old cobbled path until we reach the starting point in Barós.
