Ruta Eco-emotional, “From the Sea to the Castle”.

Description

This eco‑emotional route, “From the Sea to the Castle,” offers more than a sporting challenge. It combines natural landscapes, local gastronomy and the cultural identity of the region, creating a complete experience for cyclists who want to connect with the territory while enjoying a varied and rewarding ride.

The route begins in Alcossebre with a gentle warm‑up along the coastline. The sea marks the pace of the first kilometres, providing a smooth start before the terrain gradually begins to rise toward the interior. As the landscape shifts away from the coast, the pedalling becomes steadier, introducing the cyclist to a more rural and quiet environment.

The ascent toward the Castle of Xivert unfolds along a progressive, steady track that allows riders to maintain a comfortable cadence. As the climb develops, the surroundings change: traditional terraced fields, Mediterranean scrubland and open views create a sense of transition between sea and mountains. Reaching the castle feels like arriving at a defining point of the region—a natural lookout where history, elevation and panoramic views of the valleys merge.

From the castle, the descent into Alcalà de Xivert provides a welcome break after the main climb. Entering the town marks the beginning of the gastronomic pause, an ideal moment to enjoy the local cuisine and recover after the effort. Once recharged, the route continues with its cultural element through a visit to the church and the iconic bell tower, two landmarks that reflect the heritage and identity of the municipality and deepen the connection with the area.

With the body recovered and the legs moving freely again, the return to Alcossebre takes place along gentler terrain. As the sea slowly reappears on the horizon, the pedalling becomes smooth and natural, bringing the route to a close. The experience blends elevation, scenery, culture and flavour—an authentic cycling journey through one of the most characteristic landscapes of the region.
